Through and Within

At the crack of dawn, she awakens
From the dream that keeps recurring
A dream that she hopes one day manifests
That she hopes may not be destroyed
That may not be hinging on her optimism
But on the chest of an egoistic man
But she'll still dream on

Year after year her heart moans
When will it be over, she cries
Like gravity, her hopes keep going down
But with every rising of the sun
She looks on for a brighter day
Bleak is what it looks like from afar
But she'll still push on

She knows how strong she is
Aware of what power she possesses
Hoping that one day she'd be given the chance to show
Like Cara Danvers, she can't show her powers
Strong as she is, she's seen as a weakling
Like a baby that needs nursing
But within her is an innate desire
That cannot be quenched by the well of ignorance of men
But she'll still hold on

Dawn is coming
Dawn that'll represent her triumph
Triumph over oppression and inequality
Triumph over systems and stereotypes
Dawn that'll see her spread those wings
Show her true self; a human being
